Indication for tooth extraction

These days, modern therapeutical options enable the conservation of many teeth. Situations still arise however, in which a tooth can only be extracted. Indications are:

• Caries reaching far under the gingiva or into the root
• Severe loosening due to parodontitis
• Lack of space
• Orthodontal lack of space
• Longitudinal dental fractures
• Root canal preparation in via falsa (root wall was drilled through accidentally)
• Relocated or excess teeth
• Severe tipping of teeth
